Leopard Tortoise Cage and Home. You’re about to bring a new animal into your home, but have you made sure you’re actually prepared? There are some things that we humans share with Leopard Tortoises and other reptiles, but environmental preferences generally aren’t among these. While we prefer temperate, dry environments that let us stretch out under the sky, a reptile like your new pet is quite uncomfortable without a hot, wet place where it can hide and bathe as needed.

Vivariums

Appleton Exotics is a pet shop in Wigan and has Leopard Tortoise Vivarium and tanks for sale, for more information contact Steve or Terry on 01942 824385 or call in to the shop to have a look at the great facilities we have to offer.

Leopard Tortoises like those for sale at Appleton Exotics pet shop need their own exclusive home inside your own. Their cages serve a much different purpose than a cat or dog’s would. Vivarium and aquarium tanks are designed to keep moisture in. Think of it like an environmental incubator. By including a heat lamp above or under-tank heat pad, you can raise your pet’s living temperatures to a range that closer imitates their natural African environments. Closed glass cages also minimize the amount of moisture that escapes into the rest of your home, letting you and your reptile live side-by-side without ever getting on each other’s nerves.

Of course, cages are about more than just ensuring that you and your Leopard Tortoise remain on friendly terms as flat-mates. Leopard Tortoises and other exotics, like any animal species, cannot maintain proper metabolic rates unless their environments are perfectly tuned to their needs. Just as you would quickly come down with a cold if you had to sleep outside during the winter, a tropical tortoise that doesn’t have a heated tank will get sick. Making sure your animals stay healthy is easier when you prepare their homes properly.

Tanks and cages are also a lot easier to maintain. It’s pretty difficult to house-train a tortoise; through no fault of their own, reptile brains just aren’t wired for such unnatural behaviour. Although you must clean your reptile’s cage on a regular biweekly basis, this minimal effort is simple and easy compared to the task of ensuring tortoises, which love to hide and wander, don’t make messes all over the house.
